Admission Counselor, Transfer, Adult and Graduate Admission

Status: Full-time, exempt, replacement
Work Schedule: 8:30 am to 5 pm (M-F), includes some evenings and Saturdays
Job Summary: Reports to the Director of Admission for Transfer, Adult and Graduate Admission to support enrollment of transfer, post-baccalaureate and graduate and transfer students. Participates in the full range of university admission responsibilities including: traveling to community colleges, graduate school and company education fairs; interviewing prospective students, reviewing applications, and assuming other projects as assigned. Assists in enrolling academically qualified students in accordance with the philosophy of the University; maintains frequent contact with prospective students, parents, and other counselors; demonstrates understanding and sensitivity to the needs of all students, has a working knowledge and commitment to utilizing social media, and performs duties in accordance with the values of a private liberal arts institution.
Essential Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities: The following duties are not to be considered a complete list of duties and responsibilities assigned to this position.
Interview prospective students and their families.
Program planning and implementation.
Territory management and travel to community colleges, graduate and corporate education fairs, and related recruitment programs.
Responsible for evaluation and management of inquiries and applicants to support enrollment.
Admission liaison with program advisors and faculty.
Conduct appropriate research on territory to establish/support goals and objectives.
Adheres to all university and departmental policies.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Excellent public speaking, communication, customer service, time management, analytical and organizational skills.
A commitment to the value and mission of a liberal arts education, as well as to diversity and inclusiveness.
Ability to travel for recruiting purposes and work evenings and some weekends.
Social media skills with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram are preferred.
Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
Familiarity with student information systems and previous university admission experience is desirable.
Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license, pass the University’s Decision Driving Program, and maintain insurability under the University’s vehicle insurance plan.
Must successfully pass a background check.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. No or very limited physical effort required. No or very limited exposure to physical risk. Travel is required, mostly local. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
