The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The Ohio State University is a dynamic and exciting place to be. This position offers an opportunity to strategically impact the future of Ohio State through the recruitment, admission, and support of outstanding students as the Outreach and Recruitment team is responsible for recruiting prospective students to The Ohio State University. The associate director for domestic outreach and recruitment reports to the director of outreach and recruitment. The individual will be located in the Student Academic Services Building and will work closely and alongside a team of full-time staff members of approximately 30 and a broader Undergraduate Admissions team of 55. Peak seasons are typically August-November and January- May given the cyclical nature of the work supported across Undergraduate Admissions. In office or hybrid work hours (3 days in office, 2 days work from home) can range from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, but will require early morning, evening, and weekend hours at various times during the year given the role’s direct work with outreach and recruitment programs occurring in varying time zones.



Detailed Position Description


As a member of the Undergraduate Admissions team the associate director, in collaboration with the director of outreach and recruitment builds strategy, oversees planning, implementation, and evaluation of domestic resident recruitment and counseling activities; develops messaging, trains and oversees territory management and counseling outreach; facilitates high school visit and college fair planning and execution, CRM management, regional campus relationships, and policy development; provides leadership and supervision of four staff members; employs a comprehensive performance management process including on-going training, setting expectations through performance planning, provides on-going coaching/mentoring and evaluates staff; motivates and encourages staff to help set priorities, provide excellent customer service and support staff in their own career development; supports and builds counselor relations through on-going communication and counselor website development, school counselor outreach, on and off campus programs and the school counselor advisory board. This position manages the personnel, operational and territory budgets of designated areas; serves in place of director at designated meetings and programs; manages a recruitment territory (e.g. domestic); executes territory specific recruitment activities and events in collaboration with partner offices using data, reports and analysis tools/technology. Develops and maintains positive relationships with high schools, community-based organizations, and community colleges. Travels to high schools, community colleges, and college fairs to represent Ohio State. Possible/extensive travel up to 8 weeks per year, potentially 1-2 consistent weeks in each semester. Reviews applications (domestic, international, transfer, special population) and makes admissions recommendations through our holistic application review process that fluctuates through the year; coaches and monitors review progress for direct reports on an on-going basis.  Makes recruitment calls to prospective students in collaboration with partner offices. Analyzes prospective student data. Learns and uses the Empowering Market Analysis (EMA), CRM (Salesforce), Student Information System, and other technologies to perform timely and accurate entries into databases regarding student application information, call/email activity and other processes, performs data validation. Manages electronic workflows.


Additional responsibilities the associate director will be responsible for include but are not limited to; counsels and corresponds with students, families, university departments, or other stakeholders regarding Ohio State admission policies, procedures, and general information over the phone, via email, and in person; conducts large and small-group presentations; learns and maintains knowledge of the areas within the office and university to best direct questions from staff and guests; researches and resolves problems; assists with on and off campus recruitment events and projects; coordinate recruitment for special programs, as assigned, which may include College Credit Plus. Provides support to access, diversity, and inclusion on/off campus programs and initiatives; participate as an active member of Undergraduate Admissions through membership on committees; completes special assignments and other duties as assigned.


Evening and weekend hours required.


This position is an exempt position and does not fall within the guidelines of FLSA.



Additional Information:
The pay range for this job profile is $62,700 – $83,600. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
