Responsibilities

The College of Business at The University of Akron is seeking to fill the position of Associate Director of Recruitment and Retention. Primary responsibilities include: recruiting prospective undergraduate students to the College of Business undergraduate programs, expanding awareness geographically, promoting programs as identified by the Dean’s Office and directing college retention initiatives; building student engagement among transfer students and prospective high school students, parents, teachers, other stakeholders, and community members; promoting and strengthening ties to external stakeholders by sharing information about application procedures, while communicating the value of undergraduate degree programs within the College of Business; conducting recruiting activities at both on-campus and off campus locations and recruitment events within the region and beyond; supporting all recruiting events hosted by UA Admissions and represent the College at such events; collaborating with UA Admissions to coordinate and assist with individual meetings and plan group visits; developing strategic plan for recruitment of prospective students; planning and coordinating high school visits both on campus and off campus; attending college and career fairs to raise awareness of the College of Business; providing initial and ongoing correspondence with school counselors, prospective undergraduate students, and family members via direct, phone, written and online communication; coordinating with our alumni relations office to leverage our alumni network in recruiting and admission efforts; may include some local travel to high schools, community colleges and UA partners; directing and coordinating college retention initiatives at the college and departmental/school level; developing marketing plans to increase visibility of our programs; managing and training current students (CoB Dean’s Team) to support recruiting and outreach activities; collaborating with CoB Dean’s Office, Departments, Schools, and administration on communication of scholarships and awards; and may include working evening and weekend hours.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years’ experience working in counseling, advising, student recruitment, or related areas required. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Computer skills including spreadsheet and database management.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate degree. Five years’ experience working in counseling, advising, student recruitment, or related areas. Higher education experience.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this position starts at $48,000 annually and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
