The Assistant Director position is part of the Undergraduate Admissions Office team, focused on helping the University meet its goals of enrolling a talented and diverse student body. This position is responsible for the recruitment, evaluation, selection, and yield of applicants. Duties include leading, managing, organizing, and staffing recruitment events and programs; providing counseling and service to students and families about the University and the college decision process; developing and maintaining relationships with school counselors and others. This position represents the University and office internally and externally. Strong professional judgment, initiative, flexibility, and a collaborative mindset are essential. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are required and a growth mindset is expected. A successful candidate will be an action-oriented problem solver with strong critical thinking skills and a positive, student centered attitude.

Minimum Qualifications:

•Master’s degree and 3 years of related experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience •Experience must include working with high school students and the community that supports them •Strong customer service motto •Detailed oriented •Self-motivated •Strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

•5 years or more of Higher Education experience to include different colleges/universities and/or community colleges. •Experience connecting with prospective students using social media. •Experience with CRM •Experience leveraging data to make strategic decisions.

Essential Functions and percent of time:

Recruitment Management (40%): Manage recruitment territory that involves interacting with students, parents, and counselors at high school visits, college fairs, panels, and college recruitment. Work closely with high school counselors and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to develop strong relationships for the University. Excellent communication skills and knowledge about the University and admissions are critical. Must maintain a professional demeanor at all times as a representative of the University. Must have the ability to work independently following admissions guidelines; lead and participate in discussions and decision-making processes.

Leadership and Staff Development (25%): Assist in the day to day management of the admissions office, including direct supervision of the admissions recruiters. Serve as a member of the admissions leadership team in planning and executing initiatives to support the achievement of strategic goals. Work with faculty, deans, and representatives from other departments at the University to support recruitment and enrollment efforts. Must be able to make mature decisions and recommendations. Create and analyze appropriate reports to support initiatives and outcomes.

Service (15%): Conduct information sessions about the University and Admissions for prospective students and families. Provide customer service by answering phone calls and E-mails from prospective students and parents. Interview prospective students who visit campus. Answer questions about the University, admissions, and financial aid.

Project Management/Support (15%): Manage or support project or program areas as assigned. If applicable, maintain program budgets based on guidelines set by department’s budget leadership. Collaborate with colleagues, supervisor, and departmental leadership (as needed) to ensure project success.

Other duties as assigned (5%)

Non-Essential Functions and percent of time: Working Conditions Climate controlled office environment with high volume of customer service traffic. Some weekends and evening hours may be required. Must be able to handle high or increased stress levels during peak recruitment times.
