Position Overview

The College Counselor at Saint Joseph Academy will work closely with our students and their families to  navigate the college admission process, beginning in the summer prior to their junior year and through graduation. The College Counselor assists with college research, applications, essays and scholarships. This is a 12-month position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

-Guide students and parents/guardians through the college admission process from exploration to application
-Providing direct and indirect counseling services
-Facilitating campus visits with college admission representatives
-Visiting college campuses to enhance relationships with college admission personnel, especially in the more selective institutions
-Provide letters of recommendations for college applications
-Track college admissions statistics
-Responsible for administering college entrance exams such as the PSAT, ACT and SAT
-Serve as the AP® coordinator and oversees administration of AP® Exams
-Co-sponsor a fall college fair in conjunction with Baldwin Wallace University, West Side Suburban High Schools and the Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling


-Bachelor’s degree in Education
-Master’s degree in School Counseling preferred
-Relevant college counseling experience
-Knowledge of relevant applications including MS Office; —Naviance/PowerSchool is a plus
